What is Community Choice Aggregation?
Community Choice Aggregation or CCA is a program available to cities, counties, and special districts to aggregate electricity load and purchase and/or generate electricity for their residents and businesses within their borders. King City Community Power (KCCP) is a CCA that serves residents and businesses within King City limits. While your energy is supplied by us, PG&E will continue to provide service you have always counted on such as: gas related services, delivering our electricity to you, maintaining the distribution lines, meter reading, billing, outage response services and discounts.
Benefits of a CCA
-
Provides businesses and residents with local control over their energy choices.
-
PG&E continues to serve KCCP's customers with the same reliable electric maintenance and delivery services.
-
Provides the community the flexibility to obtain a higher percentage of cleaner and renewable energy than the investor-owned utility can provide
-
Provides access to competitive pricing and cost-effective renewable electricity
-
Positively impacts the local economy by allocating surplus revenue from KCCP procurement to the community
King City Council
The King City Council oversees KCCP and is responsible for setting electricity rate charges and directing special energy programs such as installing wireless street lighting and partnering with GRID Alternatives to install no cost solar for low income residences.
